As I understand it, the latest Android SDK makes it possible to create applications without any Java at all, so perhaps it's possible without too much effort. In general, the "uiports" of rdesktop have been lagging behind somewhat. One interesting idea would be to get rid of these, as well as the X11 backend, and change rdesktop to instead use FLTK. This is exactly what we did with the TigerVNC vncviewer. This would make it easier to use rdesktop on many different platforms.
