Initial Comment:
My TS connections to a Win 2008 TS Server always ended up with 16 bit color depth even if I configured 24 bits.
I was lauching it via GUI (like Gnome RDP) which passed "-a 24" argument to rdesktop.
I had to launch rdesktop with "-a 32" to have a 24 bit depth on Win 2008.
The man page of rdesktop state that color depth could be : 8,  15,  16  or  24.

Perhaps this a mistake in the man page (rdesktop support 8,  15,  16  or  32) or this is a limitation of Win 2008 (win 2008 support 16 or 32, not 24).
So according to the upper reason, 32 should be added or 24 removed in the man page

What needs to be done to support greater than 16 bit?  With version 1.6.0,
I get this error attempting to use 24 bit:
  WARNING: Remote desktop does not support colour depth 24; falling back
to 16
This results in a lower quality presentation:
- anti-aliased text is presented without anti-aliasing
- mouse cursors are very poor presumably for the same reason.

Does 1.7 support 24 bit and/or 32 bit?

Investigating a little further, I found that windows XP support 24 bits
connection but not 32 bits.
Whereas Windows 2008 (and probably Vista) need 32 bits and do not support
24 bits.

So, "-a 24" and "-a 32" are both valid options.

Please, could you change the man page to add 32 bits to the possible
options of the "-a" argument ?
