Device redirection

I'm a developer for the CoRD project, which is rdesktop ported to Mac
OS using magic Apple development stuff. Terribly irrelevant.

I'm somewhat new to the project, but I do have a moderate knowledge
of the rdesktop underpinnings, and it is, for all intents and
purposes, left intact from the 1.4.1 version it was hacked from.

As far as I can tell, device redirection was enabled but left
unimplemented in cord by its original creator, as each connection
does call rdpdr_init() and set up the virtual channel.

Can anyone give an overview of how device redirection works?
Especially pertaining to disk forwarding: how the client initiates
it, and after it is initiated, what further info the client needs to
provide.

Thanks!
