Your IT admins can restrict console access and set sessions to disconnect after X minutes via group policy. You could try and hack that using the Win 2003 admin kit, but I wouldn't advice it - I would just ask whoever administers the kit to relax the settings for you. -----Original Message----- From: Wendell Nichols [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 17 November 2008 21:45 To: [email protected] Subject: [rdesktop-users] Question about connecting to the console of server 2003 I have a server 2003 at my office and I connect to it from home via vpn. I've always had the problem that if my connection failed my session on windows got logged off and when I logged back on I had to restart all my desktop apps. If there was a build in progress this sets me back quite a bit. For a sort time I was able to connect to the console via the -0 option and that worked like a charm (my sessions survived a loss of connection), however at some point that stopped working and even though I login to -0 I get a tcp session. I have no Idea why console mode stopped working. The server belongs to the company domain and is likely subject to all the usual domain based foolishness of windows networks. 2 questions: -is there a way to have my sessions survive a disconnect? -is there a way to get back on the console? (I have admin rights to the machine). wcn ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ _______________________________________________ rdesktop-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/rdesktop-users ********************************************************************************************************** The information contained in this e-mail is private and confidential, may be legally privileged and/or protected by law and it is intended only for the use of the addressee.
