Personally, I chose to downgrade to 2003, in order to avoid such problems.

Everyone has a linux desktop to test with - just download an ubuntu live 
cd .iso, burn it to cd, put it in your drive and reboot.  Providing your 
hardware is supported (and most is), the live cd gives you the ability to 
boot into a full-blown linux desktop, without touching your hard-drive.  It 
is naturally slower, running from a cd, but perfectly usable for testing 
purposes.  There are instructions here:
