rdp over https possible yet?

Hi.
My employer is switching from using a vpn and rdp to using "rdp over htpps",
involving a gateway-server (2008 server).
Since I am the only "non windows epmoyee" noone "cares"..
When operating on Windows. TS client services version 6.1 is needed to
realize this "rdp over https".

What are my chances to get this working using rdesktop?
(or: Are there any alternatives ?)
