Does Windows remote desktop (mstsc.exe) use the same level of bandwidth, do we know?

Subject: [rdesktop-users] rdesktop mouse movement events consume excessivebandwidth

Hi anyone/everyone :-)

I've been using rdesktop for a while now, v1.60 latest on Ubuntu 9.04.  My biggest (and only) complaint/problem with it is that when "mouse movement events" are enabled (default), this consumes A LOT of upload bandwidth.  For me, when I'm connected to a Windows machine via rdesktop, and I "jiggle" the mouse, it will consume all available upload bandwidth (50KB/s+).  Even in normal usage, it will consume on average 20-30KB/s, and still peak to the max 50KB/s.  This does not go over well when other users in the house are trying to use the Internet (especially if they're playing a game, or talking on a VoIP phone...)

Disabling mouse movement events (-m) is a workaround, but not really acceptable because almost everything in Windows relies on movements events (highlighting text, dragging windows, mousing over a sub-area for scrolling, etc.).

Does anyone have any experience with this problem, and is it easily resolved?
