rdesktop itself cannot read the password from a file, but there's an even 
better solution: transfer the password on standard input:

echo "foobar" | rdesktop -p -

Wrt the clipboard performance, do you cut and paste large amounts of 
data, such as images? I can imagine that this slower than with the MS 
client. To some extent, this might be caused by the platform differences: 
rdesktop must translate between the X11 and Windows environments, which 
uses different clipboard models. But there might be room for improvements.
