So I have an ssh tunnel setup from a Windows 7 Professional machine to
a Linux machine. The forwarded port shows up just fine on the Linux
machine:

     $ netstat -tln
     Active Internet connections (only servers)
     Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address
State
     tcp        0      0 127.0.0.1:3389          0.0.0.0:*
LISTEN
     ...
     tcp6       0      0 ::1:3389                :::*
LISTEN

When I try to rdesktop to the Windows machine on the other end the
login screen comes up just fine, but when I hit enter after typing the
username and password I get this:

     $ rdesktop localhost
     Autoselected keyboard map en-us
     WARNING: Remote desktop does not support colour depth 24; falling
back to 16
     #[I enter valid user name and password here. welcome screen with
little spinning circle is shown in the rdesktop window. But then:]
     ERROR: Connection closed
     ERROR: send: Broken pipe
     ERROR: Connection closed
     ERROR: Connection closed
     ERROR: send: Broken pipe
     $ echo $?
     63

The ssh tunnel is still up just fine. I can try again.

I have no idea how to proceed to make this work. Help please.

Both machines are dual monitor setups, if by any chance that matters.
