            Bug ID: 15154
Summary: manpage: Describe default behavior in context of
                    --old-args/--protect-args
           Product: rsync
           Version: 3.2.0
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P5
         Component: core
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
        QA Contact: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

I am not a well experienced rsync user. So it could be that I misunderstood
something and this report is wrong.

Context: This is about how --old-args and --protected-args are described in the
manpage.

Problem: It seems to me that the manpage doesn't mention the default value or
default behavior.

Details: In my understanding that two arguments have an opposite meaning. So
they can't be used together. The question about the default values is if I call
rsync without any of that arguments how will rsync behave?

I assume that `--protect-args` is the default behavior but I'm for away from
being sure.

If I am not wrong I would suggest to improve the manpage and describe the
"default" behavior.
