upcoming 3.0.0beta3 release this week

Folks,

We're planning the 3.0.0 beta3 release for this Wednesday (Jul 16).  
Please have any patches you need checked in for packaging to me 
by Tuesday.

PS:  beta3 will probably be the last beta release.  We're are 
working towards a final release date of Aug 15.
