That’s how I do it as a very last resort.

I also do:

As my DCs run in a hypervisor , at a convenient time I shut them both at the exact same time and do a snapshot.

If using Proxmox , you can schedule a backup with VMs stopped for the same effect.

Backing up the full VM takes about 2 minutes. My VMs are 10GB disk.

I run the procedure weekly.
