Just a quick note for people trying to build 4.23.7 (or 4.24.1) on FreeBSD - it will crash and coredump. 

The fix is to change _FORTIFY_SOURCE=3 to 1 (or removing it) in buildtools/wafsamba/samba_autoconf.py before building.

(FreeBSD has it's own implementation of FORTIFY_SOURCE but it doesn’t support level 3 and thus handlings it as level 2).
