Setting security properties as described below resolved the issue. I had to add the following system properties to "downgrade" the security. -Djcifs.smb.client.useExtendedSecurity=false -Djcifs.smb.lmCompatibility=0 -Djcifs.smb.client.useBatching=false Might be worth a try.
