Thanks for the additional clarifications.

I had been looking into configuring WINS because I was hoping to avoid
re-implementing any of the existing jCIFS domain controller lookup code;
however, given the explanations from you and Chris, it looks like I will
need to re-implement some part of that logic anyway, so I might as well
switch to using a DNS-based lookup (which also seems more robust).
