   b) a finished work (no dangling git branch)
   c) a happy customer (Julian)
   d) one more GNU package that runs with a current verson of another GNU package

   e) a library people may find useful later ....

I agree w/ everything With the exception of the last point,
which IME will prove to be a maintenance burden.

If OP can make do w/o that, then...
