The new version of the SILC Client is now available!  The source package
of the software is available from the following sources:

Please enjoy this SILC Client 1.1 release.  The SILC Client 1.1 includes=20
almost entirely rewritten client library based on the SILC Toolkit 1.1.=20
It brings better performance, lots of bugfixes and some new features.  The=
=20
SILC Client also contains an entirely new Irssi base, based on the Irssi=20
0.8.11.

The SILC Plugin for Irssi is now included by default in the SILC Client=20
package.  You can compile either the standalone client or the plugin for=20
Irssi.  Read the README.PLUGIN for instructions on how to compile the SILC=
=20
Plugin.

An RPM spec file is also included in the tar-package by default enabling=20
you to compile your own RPM's directly from the source package, if you=20
wish.

I want to thank everyone who were active during the beta stage and=20
reported problems and bugs.  I especially want to thank Juha R=E4s=E4nen fo=
r=20
testing and reporting problems from the very first alpha version.


Summary of Changes

Here are the higlights of the new features and changes in 1.1.

o New Irssi base, the Irssi 0.8.11.

o Based on the new SILC Toolkit 1.1.

o Rewritten client library, faster and smaller, tons of bugs fixed.

o Rewritten key agreement support, with UDP/IP support in addition to the
   TCP/IP.

o Rewritten file transfer support, making it more robust and reliable.

o Rewritten nickname formatting.  Client now automatically detects and
   chooses most optimal nickname format.

o Formatted nickname hints when sending private messages.  The client now
   tells you if you are sending to nickname that doesn't exist, whether you
   meant to send to one of the formatted nicknames instead.  Makes it
   harder to send private messages to wrong people when there any many
   people with same nicknames.

o Show real name and email address from public key when accepting and
   verifying public keys.  Makes it harder to verify public keys from wrong
   people.

o Partial support for upcoming SILC Protocol version 1.3

o Partial support for SILC Public Key version 2.

o Fixed all known issues from 1.0.

o Myriad of other fixes and changes.

Installation
------------

The source package is compiled and installed as instructed in the INSTALL
file found from the package.  Quick installation:

    ./configure
    make
    make install
