That would be my fault.  To avoid needing to install autodist, I 
committed the required build control files (configure.ac, lots of 
Makefile.am, and some *.in files) to my local repository.  Skywing 
cloned off my repository, so he inherited that.  He *is* using autodist, 
so it keeps rewriting the Makefile.am files that I put in, which git 
then correctly reports as dirty.
