[WEB REQ] cannot get to bind to ip/port - silc server 1.01

Software: silc server 1.01 
Operating System: whax, vmware (slackware)
Installation: source

root@slax:/usr/local/silc/sbin# ./silcd
Could not create server listener: 192.168.1.103 on 6400
tried the default port at first. tried localhost, 127.0.0.1, external ip, etc.
vmware is using bridged networking.
it has its own ip on the network. there \"shouldnt\" be anything interfering, but i could be wrong.
yes im behind a router. any suggestions?
