winxp GAIM client dropping connection

one of my friends connects to my SILC server, running silc-server 1.0.2 on
openbsd with a static IP, from a dynamic IP. he runs GAIM 1.5.0 on winxp and it
will periodically drop his connection to the server. we are not certain that it
correlates with his dynamic IP changing, but it occurs every few hours, making
it annoying to stay connected.

has anyone else experienced this problem? should i inquire about this on the
GAIM mailing list? the logging hasn't been running on the server lately so i
don't have  any logs to refer to for now (fixing now).
