here's what i'm seeing now that there are some logs on the server:

[Mon Aug 21 12:00:18 2006] [Error] Error receiving packet from connection

i don't see any way to ratchet up the log level. the connection lifespan seems
to be very short lately, 30 minutes to 2 hours until it drops.
