Re: Moving the All-In-One Folder

I understand that this is an issue that comes up FAR too often with
NS2. I have questions about the installation process.

I am installing NS2 on Ubuntu 14.04 using the all-in-one package.
Initially, I had the extracted file saved to /home/username/Downloads
during my installation. After I finished everything (which included
setting up my bashrc file), I moved the all-in-one folder to
/home/username (one directory up from where it was before). Once I did
that, I was having issues getting Tcl to work correctly. The error
message I was seeing stated the following:

Can't find a usable init.tcl in the following directories:

*List of directories*

I know that this is most likely caused by me moving the all-in-one
folder post installation. However, I am curious as to why this
happened? If I set my bashrc file to the correct locations (as in, the
paths did NOT include the Downloads folder), shouldn't Bash recognize
everything correctly? I looked into the directories that Tcl said that
the init files did not exist, and I found such a file in one of the
directories. Hence, the error message I was seeing did not make sense.

Any insight to this issue would be greatly appreciated.
