SCOPE
Autonomous and human-controlled mobile objects are increasingly=20=20
present in water, land and sky scenarios, becoming an essential tool=20=20
for fully automated or human-assisted missions, services, and=20=20
applications. Smartphones and IoT devices are widespread in our=20=20
cities, creating a hyper-connected society. Groups of autonomous=20=20
vehicles, even flying ones, can perform actions and provide services=20=20
and applications in several application fields, such as environment,=20=20
agriculture, disaster management and recovery, smart cities, smart=20=20
transportation and entertainment. Intelligent vehicles provide new=20=20
smart environments (cities, harbours, factories, offices, homes, etc.)=20=20
with the additional features given by their actuation capabilities,=20=20
which aim at improving, at the same time, the performance of a=20=20
specific mission as well as the performance of the underlying=20=20
communication network. The three different contexts: land, water and=20=20
sky, as well as the integrated contexts, have already gained momentum=20=20
showing the opportunities to provide benefits to our whole society.=20=20
However, to fully exploit this potential, we first have to address=20=20
numerous research issues, to design and develop reliable, green,=20=20
affordable and efficient networking and applications. This track=20=20
focuses on the open research challenges and their practical solutions,=20=20
as well as on the standardization activities and the applications and=20=20
products already existing.
