wish the ISPs get a clue as to why NNTP
is much much better than mailing lists.
especially with the lack of good mailers
which do support lists and with the lack
of knowledge about lists and.. (rant rant)

i second this!  news.individual.net has always
been *the* news server here in germany.

actually, it was the server i first used
(anyone remember it as news.fu-berlin.de?)
and way back when it stood right next to us
at the math department (well, for a while).
ah.. the memories! :)

anyway, check out http://news.individual.net
for more info.  unfortunately, the service
had to go commercial - but the service costs
only 10euros per year (about 12US$ currently).
so - it's "just a dollar per month". :-)
