Note:

This happens only with the *first* space in the command line,
afterwards spaces are inserted correctly in the second (or
overlong) line.

I tried with with slang2 and --with-readline=gnu; or with
setkey readline cycle "^N"
instead of " " in slrnrc; both to no avail.
