Hi,

I have installed the latest cvs version of slrn (thanks for the
assistance with this!) and believe that I _may_ have found a minor bug
with either slrn _or_ checkinstall.

 After running:

./autogen.sh
./configure
make all

I use checkinstall as follows:

sudo checkinstall -D

which causes a bleat from checkinstall as the 'version' does not have
numerals:

*** Warning: The package version "slrn" does not
*** Warning: contain any digits. dpkg might not like that.

This package will be built according to these values:

0 - Maintainer: [ [email protected] ]
1 - Summary: [ slrn: World's Greatest Newsreader ]
2 - Name: [ slrn ]
3 - Version: [ slrn ]
4 - Release: [ 1 ]
5 - License: [ GPL ]
6 - Group: [ checkinstall ]
7 - Architecture: [ i386 ]
8 - Source location: [ slrn ]
9 - Alternate source location: [ ]

Enter a number to change any of them or press ENTER to continue:

Simple enough to manually add this in which resolves the problem, in
fact such a minor thing that I was not sure if I should even send it
to the list!

The version of checkinstall is:

andrew@ilium:~$ checkinstall --version

checkinstall 1.5.3, Copyright 2001 Felipe Eduardo Sanchez Diaz Duran

and the version of slrn is:

andrew@ilium:~$ slrn --version
Slrn 0.9.8.1pl2 [2005-02-17]
        * Note: This version is a developer preview.
S-Lang Library Version: 2.0.5
Compiled at: Jul 16 2007 09:18:31
Operating System: Linux

My apologies if this a trivial bug :-)

          Andrew Strong
