Btw, nn is dead the way slrn is dead: I read a Usenet post about nn recently 
from the current nn maintainer that mentioned recently added features.

Not quite. E.g. consider Thomas Wiegner's recent patches, which completely 
solve the UTF-8 charset problems for me. If they're not in CVS HEAD yet, I 
suppose there *is* a (temporary) problem: a patch that breaks nothing and 
improves *something* should be merged into the official source.

I love slrn, but I'm too lazy to try to help either developers or users much. 
All I have, after years of allegedly "helping" users, is this:

which is unfinished and, frankly, not really very helpful.
