These days, I interface with the machine almost exclusively through
text-mode applications such as vim, mutt, elinks ... integrated via
gnu/screen running on top of a 256-color xterm.

In order to have a consistent look across the board I would love to see
256-color support added to slrn.

The way it's done in mutt where you specify numbers in the [0-255] range
and mutt checks your terminfo entry to ensure your terminal supports the
specified color strikes me as both very simple and intuitive. 

Not the average hacker's pet project, but to me .. looks do matter.
