I'm the guy who did most of the original port of slrn to Cygwin back
around 0.9.7.0, and wanted to be the Cygwin maintainer a couple of
years ago.  It didn't work out because the Cygwin people were very
stringent on their requirements for maintainers regarding email
response times, which was not compatible with having a full-time job.

Yup ... it usually just works as Cygwin has gotten pretty good
