In the case of the italia.test post of which I sent you the headers,
	From: <[email protected]=?=>
is now displayed as
	From: <§¢årÿù^CÅÒ<94>»ÿïÂB?<92>?>
with iso-8859-15 as fallback charset. There's no warning message.

I think that's as good as can be hoped for with x-user-defined. It works just 
well enough to show that the poster was trying to find an annoying way of 
writing "Scary[something]".
