Oops! On a closer examination it looks like ilium is set correctly in /etc/hosts but it is sharing 127.0.0.1 with localhost for some reason. Once I set the correct ip address for ilium the problem was resolved. I can only hope that there is a very small audience for my embarrassment :-) Thanks for steering me to my error!
