For some time, there are snapshots of the svn version of slrn
available at: <http://slrn.sourceforge.net/downloads/svn_snapshots/>

I guess John will be okay with diffs against such a tarball, too, if
you do not want to use svn at all (I'm sure he'll correct me, if
that's wrong).
