Here, slrn is probing to see if the server supports the XHDR command.
It appears that the server hangs after slrn sends it this command.
slrn waits two minutes for a response and then if none arrives, it
reconnects.  Later tonight I will check-in a patch that should help
with this problem.

2 minutes times 3 = 6 minutes.

I do not know what function C library function is doing this.  I will
look into it later tonight also.
