I don't use us-ascii_override because, as ThW himself says, "here you start to mess around with standard compliant postings." Also, Google now seems not to use US-ASCII charset declarations at all, preferring ISO-Latin with QP as its default, so the patch may no longer be as useful as it was. I do use minimal_multipart, and wonder how I ever managed without it, but I don't think it should be made "official", since it *conceals* a lack of MIME support in slrn rather than *fixing* it.
