There used to be a half-way decent webUI for the gmane server, and it
was half-way useful for searching, but "something happened" to the old
server, somebody else took over and migrated things to a new server,
and the webUI was abandoned.

That said, I far prefer slrn/gmane for following mailing lists. I know
you can do fancy stuff with procmail and mutt, but I find slrn's
scoring much easier to use when I want to ignore certain types of
posts and make sure I see others.

Over the past 20 years or so, I have run into 1-2 lists where you
can't post via Gmane+NNTP, but that seems to be pretty rare. AFAIR,
all the lists I currently follow allow posting via Gmane, though you
often have to subscribe to the list for that to work (I have delivery
turned off for those subscriptions).

Dunno about that, I just leave everything on Gmane's NNTP
server. Someday, I'll probably reget not have a local copy of the
lists I care about...
