Probably you're right.

This is what I thought, too, but it is not enough.  Because if A posts
on a group hosted on B, the Path: A will be added, then the message
gets transported onto B.  Unfortunately, this prevents A from ever
seeing that message again, because it will be ignored when it is
retrieved from B during snget.
