Normally they should terminate within their timeout. I think your
processes was crashed by the newsclient.
OPTIONS
-t timeout
specifies how long snntpd should wait for input
before it gives up and exits. timeout is in sec
onds and defaults to 600.
This feature works well here on 3.2 and 3.3.
Try a cronjob at night that will give "killall snntpd" once.
