Yes. just run

echo 'mail me@myhost' >/SNROOT/.outgoing/my.news.server:119/request-list

and the HELLO script will fetch the list of newsgroups and mail it to you.
You can also put the command in "request-newgroups" instead, and you'll get
a list of the new groups since your last list...

This used to be documented in INSTALL.*, but seems to have been deleted
for some reason.
