Yes, that's correct.

No, no such option I'm afraid. sn's message-id database doesn't concern
itself with cross-posts, and the linked-to article doesn't know it's linked.

If you wanted to script it though: you know the group that the crossposted
article is in and the message-id, right? So, if 'snscan -i message-id' returns
nothing, do 'snscan group-name' and grep for the message-id.
