Articles dissapearing to soon

I'm running sn 0.3.5 as a local newsgroup server, and I am having problems with articles dissapearing from the clients view after about a week, even though I have run "snexpire -5y news.group" for each of the groups, and I had also created the ".expire" file inside each groups directory in the news spool, which also reads "5y". Could someone please help me, or explain how sn expires news articles, and how to stop it from expiring them so quickly. Also if i at all possible, bring back the articles that have expired (they are still on the server if you cat through the articles in the news spool) Thank You --Robert
