Hello there! I've happily used sn (0.3.3) for some months for a little news server for use by friends. Some days ago I updated to 0.3.6 and started from scratch, also adding some remote groups. It all works perfectly, but I wondering if some kind of user authentication was to be implemented in sn. Apart from the host-based check, that is. All my clients have dynamic ips, therefore I have to open the server up for possibly a lot of people. An user/pass check would be nice, maybe with some levels of things a client can do. For example, the first check is hosts-based; then if the user and pass are correct, the user is allowed to post on all non-.nopost groups, otherwise s/he can only access all groups in a read-only fashion (or just be kicked out if s/he provides a wrong user/pass couple). The user/pass file might be as simple as apache's... user:cryptedpass. Just my two cents :) -- Daniele Nicolucci (Jollino) Network Admin on irc.discussioni.org "An it harm none, do as ye will"
