It is per server and is usually ~1000 user connections.

If you look at your server logs and log SESSION you might see what is going=
 on.

My hunch would be that you have a client program that is connecting -> fail=
ing -> reconnecting repeatedly very quickly in some scenarios.

I=92d also recommend upgrading to the newest version of Spread as that is a=
 pretty old version with plenty of bugs that have been fixed since then.
