What works for me is forcing the HOME directory by changing the entries 
in the etc/password file. You can also set a Window's environment 
variable for HOME to point to the directory that you want as the default 
home directory. Read the etc/profile file, on line 44 or so it gives the 
rules for setting the HOME directory.
