RE: Cygwin SFTP Windows SBS 2003

This is a long shot, but the the unix permissions for the
files/directories.  SSH is not really windows ACL aware, so this is
(possibly) an issue if the unix permissions do not look correct.  I had
this issue with transfering files once and SFTP session was already
established...

Armand thanks for getting back to me.  I gave the user:  read, read and
execute rights to the whole cygwin directory and had it propogate the
permissions to all subdirectories to no avail.  Aside from that, as you
may have seen on my other post, when I put the user in the server
operators group and then am able to SFTP, the ntfs permissions I have
set to lock that user in the home folder don't work and the user has
access to all files on the server.

Any ideas?

Not knowing the details of the source of the problem, I would recommend
that you check permissions first.  The permissions of the
homedirectories, and the execute permissions on the sftp-subsystem
executable.  The way the sftp process works, SSH authenticates the user,
and starts a user session on the system based on the authenticated
user's credentials, then under those credentials, it then executes the
SFTP subsystem host.  So this means that the SFTP subsystem must to
executable by everyone, or at least the group of users that will be
using SFTP.

Hi -

I don't know if this question has been asked before, but here goes:

I set up cygwin with SSH on my Windows SBS 2003 STD server.  I have
everything working nicely for my admin accounts.  I can have a regular
domain account logon to the ssh shell, however, I get the following
error when I try to SFTP:

Connection has been unexpectedly closed. Server sent command exit status
128

If I make that user an admin, they can sftp.  I have also set some ntfs
deny permissions for that user as I am trying to lock them into their
home directory.  

Can anyone help me with this error?
