This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------_=_NextPart_001_01C8FF2C.C05F878A Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable what version of openSSH are you using for windows? =20 =20 There are: openSSH CygWin copSSH openSSH for Windows =20 the last one is out dated, and does not work well with newer windows operating systems w/o a lot of manual tweaking. =20 the first one would require you build the the software from source code, and typically does not build natively on windows w/o a lot of code changes, or using cygwin or equivalent =20 cygwin is the gnu tools for windows (I like to refer to it is linux on windows, since it allows you to use your windows machine like a linux box) =20 copSSH and openSSH for Windows are two repacked versions of the cygwin product, reduced to just openSSH functionality, and bash shell (and a very small subset of /usr/bin files) =20 copSSH work out of the box. openSSH for Windows requires a lot of manual adjustments to the registry, and filesystem to make it work cygwin works about 98% out of the box for openSSH... only some systems aren't 100% functional after a fresh install... =20 The most typical issue is pubkey authentication on windows, because of the way the windows security model works. the openSSH service needs to have sufficient rights to become another user account w/o knowing the account password. Hey Friends, This is my first post. I installed openssh software and was able to ssh Windows machine from Linux machine & vice-versa without any issues. Of course I had to read the "README.txt" file as well as "key_authentication.txt" before everything got placed. When I ssh from Linux on to Windows, my default home directory is: "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\" Then I generated public key & private key (dsa) using openssh software. Copied the contents of public key to authorized_keys (/root/.ssh/authorized_keys) file of a remote Linux machine and was able to do password-less login from Windows machine to Linux machine.=20 Then I copied both (same) the public & private keys to /root/.ssh/ folder of Linux machine and copied the contents of the same public key to authorized_keys file:( "C::\Documents and Settings\Administrator\.ssh\authorized_keys" ) on the Windows machine.
