No misunderstanding. BitTorrent would be a good idea for the big zip 
file anyway. But even 10Mb for the individual enclosures will take a 
little while to download at the typical 512Kb of a cable/adsl link. But 
even this is still not the issue. I think the big advantage of a system 
like BitTorrent is that the enclosure collection will come from a group 
of people who've already downloaded it, not all from the primary site. 
So the bandwidth requirement is spread round the clients and doesn't all 
hit the main host.

I'm not sure how well Fasttrack/Morpheus/Kazaa/Grokster would work with 
this. It feels like BitTorrent is a bit more like a distributed proxy 
cache (eg a p2p Akamai) which is what we'd want here.

Sure. Understand. Just thinking about architecture. Some of us are 
feeling the pain of serving plain old RSS in very large quantities every 
hour on the hour. Being hit by similar levels of demand for lots of big 
files could be even worse. Especially if 40% of the hits are at 00:00am 
EST and another 40% at 00:00am PST
