Seeking Simple Spot for Metadata

We're about to launch a slew of sports-related RSS feeds, and are
trying to figure out how best to slip in some sports metacodes into
RSS 1.0. All we need are very simple strucures, a "bag" of sorts to
hold a few of these per <item>:

    <generic-code type="league" key="l.nhl.com" name="NHL"/>

where that type attribute would be "sport" or "league" or "team".

Seems silly to make up a new namespace for this, or to call in a
SportsML namespace for just an unordered set of generic pieces of
metadata.

Any advice?

Regards,
Alan.
