If the person is set on Google I can't help, but if not there's the 
nntp2rss script (http://www.bitfolge.de/nntp2rss-en.html) which requires 
you to specify a news server. It will generate google links but google 
groups is usually way behind the news server so you get a lot of "thread 
not found" errors.
