For a variety of reasons, it is preferable to have numerous aggregators - to help ease the RSS load on individual sites, for example, and to allow the proliferation of niche aggregators. For this reason may I recommend that someone set up a 'ping-central' that will allow blogs to ping once, with the ping echoing to any aggregators that register for the service.
