Hi all,=0D
I would like some advice and recommendations to get up to speed on RS=
S
and including it in=0D
various web sites, flash readers, and Content Management Systems. Please
feel free to=0D
write me off the list if appropriate. I recently got into TikiWiki because=
=0D
I thought that would help me accomplish some goals. One of them
specifically is to help, Street Newspapers,.=0D
which typically have only been available in print versions, to become
syndicated. Street Newspapers are described=0D
and cataloged at http://nasna.org (North American Street Newspaper
Association) and other locations outside=0D
this area, with goals of educating others and creating income. For this
task I had chosen TikiWiki for a=0D
couple reasons, one is that it seemed like it would make life easier.=20
Unfortunately, I was wrong.in terms of=0D
the way it is implemented. One can hardly say that the CMS actually create=
s
RSS feeds from the perspective =0D
of what one might expect a "real" RSS feed to have. Let me give a quick
example, which won't necessarily =0D
be about Street Newspapers. Ok, If I create a blog on the system and have
say 5 entries, and it is =0D
called Bruces's Web Log. What will the feed show? Bruce's Web Log...Bruce
s Web Log... Bruce's=0D
Web Log... etc. for all five. It might have a timestamp but that is hardly
a newsfeed. The same would occur=0D
with articles, Newsletters etc. =0D
Finding the right newsgroup or mailing list for where I am in this
process is difficult as I'm not sure=0D
if many of them offer novice type questions. I am realizing a need to get
up to speed on XML and RSS =0D
in particular. As a web hosting provider, I have the ability to offer web
sites, subdomains and such to=0D
these groups and do hope to make it intuitive. So, the questions:=0D
1) Do I find a Content Management System (CMS) better at creating
newsfeeds?=0D
2) Do I just create a web site and learn how to syndicate the content?=0D
3) Related to #3, will it be recommended to use a PHP web log,
News/Newsletter script, e-zine script, =0D
and forum script to make this easier? If so any recommendations? Oh the
servers I would volunteer=0D
for this support php/perl/mysql etc. I've had more experience with
php/mysql combination then perl and mysql =0D
but that doesn't mean I could use a perl based application=0D
4) Why is is so much easier to find tools that read newsfeeds that already
exist then to find apps/tools/scripts that=0D
will indicate that they output RSS? and when the few times that happens
that an RSS feed is generated from content=0D
it is really not a RSS feed of any use, similar to the Tikiwiki system.=0D
5) I use Fantastico on the servers so if anyone knows about that perhaps a
CMS could be recommended, though it doesn't =0D
have to be on Fantastico to meet the goals.=0D
6) Where might I find assistance, as in persons to work with such a projec=
t
(which is at least vaste enough in scope to be=0D
coving North American Street Newspapers - with a willingness to barter for
help on my part?=0D
Thanks in advance,=0D

Glad to get new feeds for my web-based aggregator.=0D
Most of the available ones are UK or US, so anything from a different=0D
